Position Overview

Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Foreman - Concrete.  The Foreman-Concrete will

provide physical labor, leadership, and mentorship to the Concrete construction trade through various construction, concrete, and industrial projects.  This is considered a skilled position that requires strong construction knowledge and aptitude regarding construction trades.  Projects may include, but not be limited to the following industries and facilities:  Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Oil and Gas, Factories, Production Plants, Coal, Solar and Wind Energy, etc.  This position will require a flexible schedule with extensive travel and out-of-town work and the willingness to work extended hours to include weekends, holidays, evenings, and possible night shift.  

 

This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of industrial construction and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.

 

The Foreman will report to the Group Manager – Concrete Services and will work primarily out of their assigned location.

What You'll Do

  • Lead jobs to include schedule and production tracking, materials placement, installation, finishing, curing, and post-job inspections
  • Stage and inventory materials necessary for jobs and crews
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise on-site
  • Read and interpret job documents such as blueprints, drawings, plans, etc.
  • Train, lead, and mentor less experienced Concrete Workers including running crews
  • Oversee complex tasks such as vertical and suspended pours or installing shoring and jack posting, etc.
  • Execute technical aspects of concrete work including installing, dismantling, and moving forms, mixing masonry, running vibrators, etc.
  • Screed by utilizing mud rakes to manage concrete consistency
  • Coordinate with multiple trades to ensure job completion as needed
  • Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
  • Oversee site preparation tasks such as installing vapor barriers, expansion joints, burlap and soaker hoses, weatherproofing, etc.
  • Mark site layouts for footers, foundations, ditches, etc.
  • Establish job site elevations, points, benchmarks, etc. using a variety of methods such as laser, transit, etc.
  • Perform site safety walks and pre-job preparation to verify things such as placement of underground utilities, structures, fall risks, live wires, etc.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and worksite in a safe and orderly manner
  • Obtain job-specific certifications as needed
  • Assist with Job Start Up meetings
  • Complete documentation such as timecards, daily field reports, change orders, tracking production and materials, etc.
  • Assist with estimating and bidding work
  • Communicate and coordinate with customers, vendors, management, and site personnel as needed

Working Conditions

  • Walk/use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or tools / Reach with hands and arms / Climb ladders and stairs / Crawl/kneel/lie down for extended periods of time

  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Work in confined spaces
  • Climb and perform work at heights of 30’+
  • Breathe effectively while wearing a respirator

What You'll Bring

  • A minimum of 3+ years of concrete experience to include pours, finishes, rebar, carpentry, etc. preferred
  • Strong construction/mechanical knowledge and aptitude required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to meet company driving requirements and comply with the company’s driving policy
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot and problem-solve
  • Basic welding skills preferred
  • Demonstrates mastery of basic tools and concrete tools such as trowels, concrete saws, concrete vibrators, screeds
  • Proficient in operating small equipment such as forklifts, mini excavators, manlifts, skid steers, trench compactors, etc.
  • Currently hold and maintain certifications relevant to the concrete industry
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and plans
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively present information and coordinate with cross-functional teams to accomplish common goals
  • Ability to work under stress in order to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience with Customer Service preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Possesses OSHA 30 certification
  • Possesses critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Ability to efficiently organize and plan tasks to meet job goals
  • Ability to effectively utilize computers and tablets
