Position Overview

Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for a full-time Field Welder II.  The Field Welder II will utilize welding techniques, fitting and fabrication installations, alterations, and repairs to provide solutions to customer’s on-site design and functionality problems and issues.  Most of the weld/fit/fabrication work will be solution-based and done on the fly with no plans or drawings.  The scope of the work will extend across multiple industries to include Industrial Construction, Manufacturing, Power Plants, Commercial, Aggregate, Coal, etc.

 

This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of industrial welding and must become proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation.  This position will require a flexible schedule with extensive travel and out-of-town work and the willingness to work extended hours to include weekends, holidays, evenings, and possible night shifts.  

 

The Field Welder II will report to the Group Manager – Field Welding and Mechanical Services and work primarily out of the Beitzel Corporate location.

What You'll Do

  • Provide non-certified welding services to construction trades and to various construction, industrial, and mechanical projects
  • Perform general labor for a variety of skills such as concrete work, rebar, masonry, welding, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, rigging, excavation, ditching, trenching, etc. as required
  • Weld using different techniques such as SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and oxygen acetylene cutting
  • Perform layouts, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly
  • Learn pipefitting skills
  • Read welding blueprints
  • Resolve and repair design issues by making alterations to existing equipment as needed
  • Utilize welding tools, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in a professional and workman-like manner
  • Provide daily operations updates to the supervisor
  • Lead and mentor Field Welder I's as assigned

  • Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
  • Work in extreme temperature conditions and environments
  • Perform work at a variety of heights

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of industrial welding experience preferred
  • Completion of a trade school program or equivalent preferred
  • AWS D1.1 Certification required
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to weld components in all positions required (flat, vertical, and overhead)
  • Possess proven SMAW (Stick) welding skills and GTAW (TIG) welding skills – testing required
  • Must be able to effectively design, modify, measure, determine proper angling, fabricate, and weld steel and piping
  • Use tools such as straight edges, combination squares, and rulers
  • Ability to recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including cutting torches, required
  • Possess a strong mechanical knowledge
  • Experience operating forklift and man-lift preferred
  • Rigging knowledge and experience with the ability to effectively set up chain falls and direct crane lifts preferred
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy, and possess a positive attitude
  • Ability to work well both independently and with others
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to meet deadlines
