Position Overview

The general role of the Field Services Intern Contract Management is to coordinate with Project Managers throughout the Field Services Division to assist in providing bids, contract management, and cost accounting for all Field Services Divisions which include, but are not limited to Excavation, Civil, Commercial, Industrial, Construction, Field Welding and Mechanical Services, Electrical, Mechanical, Concrete, HVAC/R, and Oil and Gas.

 

This position will work closely with the Director of Contracts, Senior Contract Managers and Project Management to support new business development and the fiscal management of projects.

 

The Field Services Intern-Contract Management will report to the Director of Contracts and will work primarily out of the Beitzel Corporate location.

What You'll Do

  • Interact and coordinate with Project Managers, Purchasing, Compliance, Accounting, ect. to provide and assemble efficient and competitive bidding
  • Utilize and assist in developing standardized bid methods and unit pricing
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid review, project start-up, pre-construction meetings, and post construction meetings
  • Ensure best practices and ensure that bids are analyzed and assembled in a manner that promotes effective and efficient execution
  • Assist in submitting bids accurately and in a timely manner
  • Assist in the identification of areas of concern and risk to management and ensure resolution
  • Assist in the coordination of subcontractor agreements as required
  • Coordinate with supervisors to ensure proper purchasing agreements are negotiated and in-place as required
  • Assist in ensuring all project materials and services have corresponding purchase orders
  • Assist in maintaining contractual records, documentation, and correspondence for each project
  • Secure and enter project cost data accurately and timely, per the established cost-accounting template
  • Work with Accounting to ensure cost traceability and to make cost corrections, as required
  • Assist in reporting project status and bid cost versus actual on a real-time basis

Working Conditions

  • Primarily assigned to the office with some on-site presence
  • Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time
  • Must adhere and follow all health, safety and environmental standards

What You'll Bring

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Accounting, Business Management, or related disciplines
  • Knowledge of the Industrial Construction Industry preferred, but not required
  • Possess some background in Accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to preform multiple assignments, meet deadlines with changing priorities, and balance the needs of multiple projects
  • Ability to understand construction drawings preferred
  • Proficiency with mathematical applications with a detailed and analytical focus
  • Must be able to work independently and with a team
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
