Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time and experienced Field Laborer - Civil.  The Field Laborer - Civil will support all operations of the Civil Group in representation of the Field Services Division. The Field Laborer - Civil must be available after-hours and weekends to answer calls from customers and Beitzel employees. This position must demonstrate general knowledge of excavation work in an industrial environment in civil applications.The Field Laborer - Civil position will require a flexible work schedule and a willingness to travel, work extended hours to include weekends, holidays, evenings and extensive overnight/out-of-town work as needed. 


The Field Laborer - Civil will report to the Civil Services Group Manager and will work primarily out of the Beitzel Corporate location. Areas of operations include, but are not limited to:  MD, OH, PA, WV, VA, NJ, NY, MI, MS and NC.

  • Perform the day to day tasks assigned by the customer, foremen, Superintendent and or Civil Manager and ensure that all required equipment inspections and emergency situations are resolved in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist with the Civil operations with consistent quality and safe work practices
  • Maintaining cleanliness of work areas
  • Must be able to operate hand power tools of all types including: air hammers, shovels, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
  • Cuts brush, clears ground, uses picks, shovels, wheelbarrows, axes, etc.
  • Cleans and prepares sites, digs trenches, and assists with repairs
  • Performing civil site work consisting of mass earth work, finish grading, asphalt paving, underground storm drain, water lines, sewer lines, dry utilities for residential and commercial projects
  • Loading and unloading trucks
  • Assist in coordinating maintenance, repairs, and additional work with the customer, and Division Management

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Industrial labor experience or equivalent/relevant education and experience preferred
  • Knowledge of the use of power tools
  • Prior experience working off lifts or staging
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • This position is subject to the Beitzel Corporation Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing

Working Conditions

  • Sit, talk, hear, read, and write
  • Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Able to work in tight spots as well as lie down and stand up repeatedly
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Perform duties on-site, out-of-doors, and at times in inclement weather
  • Required to wear safety equipment:  as per OSHA and Safeland requirements including but not limited flame-resistant clothing, steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, protective eye wear, etc.

This position requires the completion of a thorough background and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
