As a Benefits Manager, the general role is responsible for coordinating benefits functions including but not limited to benefits administration, corporate communications, compliance, and other HR related activities. This individual will also oversee and manage the overall functions of the Payroll & Benefits Coordinator.

 

This individual will have a thorough understanding of Human Resources and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation. The Benefits Manager will report to the CFO and will work out of the Beitzel Corporate location.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the coordination of STD / LTD, FMLA, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), and various other benefits
  • Assist CFO with plan review and design, new vendor research, and annual plan renewals
  • Handle benefits inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolution
  • Primary contact for Medical, Dental, Vision inquiries from employees and plan providers
  • Primary contact for processing of Short-Term and Long-Term Disability claims, and life insurance claims; complete employer statements for Disability & Life claims; verify accuracy in benefit payments and taxes; problem solve with employees and customers to solve disability benefit issues
  • Primary contact to administer all aspects of the day-to-day 401(k) processes including: determining eligibility, enrollments, loans, distributions, rollovers, deferral changes, annual audit and census, mass mailings, and other 401(k) responsibilities as needed
  • Handle FMLA leaves, following federal laws and company policies
  • Coordinate open enrollment and wellness check events
  • Monitor enrollments, send reminders, and check on status of new hires during the different steps of the enrollment process
  • Respond to and implement Court-ordered benefit enrollments
  • Assure company compliance with provisions of ERISA, ACA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Assist with the company newsletter as needed, by providing employee birthdays, anniversaries and making special announcements (i.e., birth and marriage announcements)
  • Update employee database with leaves of absence, medical records, and unemployment through Company software program; manage paper documents and files
  • Oversee and manage Payroll & Benefits Coordinator duties
  • Stay abreast of changes in HR/Benefits regulations and forms through research, attending training seminars, webinars, etc.
  • Assist management with special project initiatives
  • Explain benefit options in new hire orientations
  • Assist with updating new hire forms and paperwork annually
  • Conduct monthly audit of disability claims to ensure correct payment and taxability reporting
  • Conduct quarterly benefit and PTO eligibility testing to ensure compliance with ACA and state Sick Leave laws

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field and 3-5 years of human resources or benefits experience or comparable experience and education considered
  • Prior knowledge of automation, communications or industrial services preferred but not required
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Exemplary people skills
  • Experience in processing employee benefit claims, including life, disability, 401(k) profit sharing plans
  • Proficient in organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Excellent presentation skills
