Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Machining Crew Lead. The Machining Crew Lead will provide leadership and guidance to Machining Staff while ensuring an efficient and steady flow of work. This position must demonstrate expertise in various machining techniques to repair and/or build products as specified by blueprints, work orders, and/or oral instructions.  Duties include scheduling work, communicating expectations, performing quality control, coordinating with Management, and assisting with the quoting effort. This position must provide guidance concerning work orders, as well as mentorship to the Machining crew.

This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of industrial fabrication & machining and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.


The Machining Crew Lead will report to the Shop Foreman and will work primarily out of the Beitzel Machine Shop location.


  • Oversees the utilization and maintenance of Manual Machining Equipment such as conventional milling machines, lathes, drills, or other machining equipment
  • Provides expertise in various machining techniques
  • Provides expertise in reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings
  • Must perform all necessary quality checks during production and follow procedures when defective parts are discovered
  • Oversees the reading and execution of work orders and QA sheets
  • Schedules all work to be performed by the Machinists
  • Ensures machinists are clear on duties and expectations
  • Ensures work is completed in a timely manner while meeting quality expectations
  • Works with Project Managers on quoting and scheduling future work
  • Ensures machinists have the equipment and tooling needed to perform the work
  • Orders and replenishes materials whenever necessary
  • Communicates schedule updates and coordinates with Management


  • Preferred candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience and general knowledge of worksite safety and machining operations preferred
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing 
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy, possess a positive attitude, and be willing to work independently or in a team environment
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that may include extended work hours and occasional weekends  
  • Must possess excellent math skills including adding, subtracting, decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to work independently, follow instructions, multi-task while maintaining a clean work area.
  • Must possess a proven history of Safe Practices and Safety Awareness
  • Ability to effectively impart information and provide mentorship to less experienced employees

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

  • Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and turn tools; reach and extend hands and arms; crawl, kneel and lay
  • The employee will frequent lift, handle and maneuver parts and tools and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds unassisted
  • Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
  • Required safety equipment:  Steel toe and/or metatarsal shoes, protective eye wear, hard hat, hearing protection, protective goggles, masks, face shields, gloves, etc.

  1. Must possess a valid state driver’s license prior to employment
  2.
