Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Fleet Mechanic.  The Fleet Mechanic will service and repair all company fleet vehicles, trucks, CRV’s, welders, generators, air compressors, etc., and to assist with heavy trucks/equipment when needed. This position will require a flexible schedule that will include extended work hours. The successful candidate will possess automotive and diesel mechanical experience, training and education. This individual will have a understanding of gas and diesel equipment maintenance and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.

The Fleet Mechanic will report to the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor of Fleet Services.  This positon will work out of the Beitzel Mechanic Shop located in Bittinger, Maryland.


  • Perform maintenance and repair to a diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks, CRV’s, welders, generators, air compressors, etc., and to assist with heavy trucks/ equipment when needed.
  • Perform warranty work as authorized by manufacturers
  • Learn/perform electronic diagnostics to identify mechanical, operational and/or electrical issues and malfunctions and perform necessary repairs
  • Willing to learn/perform electronic diagnostics to effectively trouble-shoot and repair gasoline and diesel-powered engines and machinery
  • Learn/perform repairs to hydraulic, air, and electric braking systems. Willing to train and learn to be proficient in repairing hydraulic, air and electric braking systems.
  • Learn/perform diagnosis of air conditioning systems and perform necessary repairs
  • Communicate diagnostic findings; plan of action; and parts necessary to make repairs
  • Recognize and operate basic tools and equipment common to vehicle and heavy equipment repairs and maintenance including electronic diagnostic equipment. Willing to train and learn to be proficient using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area to avoid hazards and the inhalation of dangerous fumes or particulates
  • Perform other duties as assigned and assist in other areas of the Mechanic Shop, and throughout the company


  • Preferred candidate will possess an ASE Mechanic Certification or an equivalent combination of diesel automotive training and Class 8 diesel repair experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of progressive mechanic technical training and experience 
  • Must be proficient in the use of electronic diagnostic systems and software to include Pro Demand, Shop Key, and other software as the department and possess the ability to identify root causes and execute necessary repairs and/or be willing to train and learn to become proficient 
  • Must be well versed in all aspects of automotive repair to include but not be limited to:  Engine, Transmission, Driveline, Electrical, AC, and Chassis
  • Possess a basic working knowledge of Computer Drive Equipment
  • Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic theory, applications and repairs
  • Must possess a valid and Operator 10 License or be willing to obtain it during the first 60 days of employment
  • Must possess the ability or willingness to learn to repair hydraulic, air and electronic braking systems
  • Knowledge and ability to perform small engine repair is preferred but not required
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing 
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy, possess a positive attitude, and be willing to work independently or in a team environment
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that will include extended work hours and some emergency call-out work  
  • Must be a self-starter that can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must possess a proven history of Safe Practices and Safety Awareness
  • Interested candidates must possess adequate tooling to perform the required work

  3. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  4. Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
  5. Required to wear safety equipment: as per MSHA and Safeland requirements including but not limited flame-resistant clothing, steel toed and/or metatarsal shoes, hard hat, lanyard, protective eye wear, etc.

  1. Must possess a valid state driver’s license prior to employment
  2. This position requires the completion of a thorough background check including driving, employment and education verification, SSN eVerify, employment references, and pre-employment drug screening.
