Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Shop Welder. The Shop Welder will utilize various welding techniques to weld and fabricate metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, and/or oral instructions.  Duties include the use and maintenance of related shop equipment for welding.

The Shop Welder position will work out of the Bittinger and/or Grantsville fabrication shops. Occasional field work may be required. This position will report directly to the Shop Foreman.    


  • Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using welding equipment
  • Perform structural welding using a variety of procedures, such as the groove weld, fillet weld complete joint penetration, and partial joint penetration
  • Welds components in flat, vertical or overhead positions
  • Ignites, operates and cuts metal via oxy/acetylene and plasma torches and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc
  • Operates overhead and jib cranes to move, lift and place metals and weldments
  • Exercise proper care, maintenance and operation of company equipment
  • Adhere to all Company Safety Policies
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required


  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of welding and/or fabrication experience in an Industrial Metal Shop
  • Must be AWS certified – successful completion of weld test required prior to employment
  • Proficient in GMAW (MIG). Competent in SMAW (Stick) and GTAW (TIG)
  • Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of metal fabrications or other structures
  • Proficient in use of manual plasma cutter and oxyfuel cutting torch
  • Proficient in use/reading of various measuring devices
  • Mechanical skills and aptitude a must
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to read and interpret WPS with the ability to adjust machine settings to conform to WPS while maintaining desired arc
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed to including weekends and extended hours
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Team-oriented and able to work effectively and efficiently with others
  • This position is subject to the Beitzel Corporations Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes pre-employment, post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, and follow-up testing


Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 80lbs unassisted
  • Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching and handling of materials.

  1. Must possess a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment
  2.
