Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Sandblast Operator/Laborer.  The Sandblast Operator/Laborer will utilize various hand and power tools to clean and prepare industrial equipment, machinery and structures for painting, delivery and/or installation. Techniques will be specified by work orders, formal training, and/or oral instructions. Duties include the use and maintenance of related shop equipment for blasting. This individual will have a thorough understanding of all aspects of industrial fabrication and must be proficient with the products and services offered by Beitzel Corporation and must be flexible and willing to work extended hours as needed.

The Sandblast Operator/Laborer will report to the Shop Foreman and will work primarily out of the Beitzel Fabrication Shop location.


  • Sand blast to remove surface contaminants from steel as directed according to project specifications required by our customers or from the individual paint requirements
  • Follow & review all safety operating procedures outlined by the Supervisor, Shop Foreman and safety manual while participating in company safety meetings to increase safety knowledge
  • Assists in erecting needed equipment for project, such as scaffolding, rigging, ladders, man and scissor lifts and other equipment as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes
  • Duty of care to protect work area and equipment during operations
  • Operates, cares for, cleans, and maintains all blasting equipment, tools, and work site daily
  • Communicates with the Supervisor and Shop Foreman regarding: project status/issues, time estimates/deadlines, logistics, safety concerns, materials required as well as specifications to complete a successful project
  • Assist in fabrication shop operations on an as needed basis
  • Operate forklifts
  • Maintain a safe, clean work area


  • Preferred candidates will possess a minimum of 2 years of experience and general knowledge of worksite safety and surface preparation or relevant experience in the construction trades is a plus.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing 
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy, possess a positive attitude, and be willing to work independently or in a team environment
  • Must be able to pass a respirator fitness test and physical exam
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that may include extended work hours and occasional weekends  
  • Must be a self-starter that can work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must possess a proven history of Safe Practices and Safety Awareness
  • This position is subject to the Beitzel Corporations Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes: pre-employment, post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, and follow-up testing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:

  1. Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and turn tools; reach and extend hands and arms; crawl, kneel and lay
  2. The employee will frequent lift, handle and maneuver parts and tools and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds unassisted
  3. Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
  4. Required safety equipment: Steel toe and/or metatarsal shoes, protective eye wear, hard hat, hearing protection, protective goggles, masks, face shields, welding gloves, etc.
  5. Work outside in harsh weather conditions


Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Must possess a valid state driver’s license prior to employment
  2. This position requires the completion of a thorough background check including driving, employment and education verification, SSN eVerify, employment references, and pre-employment drug screening.
