Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Structural Steel Estimator. The Structural Steel Estimator is responsible for providing project pricing, estimates and quotes to support the efforts of the Fabrication and Machining Project Team. The Structural Steel Estimator will also utilize industry expertise to provide feedback to facilitate the successful completion of jobs. This position will regularly communicate and coordinate with various departments within Fabrication and Machining which may include:  Division Management, Shop Supervision, Purchasing, Drafting and Design, and Project Management.     

The Structural Steel Estimator will work out of the Beitzel Fabrication and Machining Office located in Bittinger, MD.  This position will support project initiatives in both the Bittinger and Grantsville Fabrication shops while reporting to the Division Manager. 

• Prepare pricing estimates for new structural steel projects; add-on work and for change orders on existing projects
• Read, understand and incorporate bid instructions and detailed specifications into each estimate
• Reads and understands industrial and commercial contract drawings
• Prepare an accurate “take off” of materials included in the jobs; estimating all necessary labor, materials equipment and delivery costs to prepare thorough estimates
• Prepare and provide all necessary job information to ensure successful “hand-off” of estimates to Project Managers
• Confer with internal and external customers to assess needs and provide deliverables that are accurate and precise
• Communicate and coordinate with Project Managers to assist them in quoting, managing and delivering projects that are on time and on budget
• Works with engineers to facilitate design build structures
• Stays abreast of current mill and warehouse prices
• Structures written quotes in a systematic way as required by bid documents

•  2+ years of experience in estimating steel, stainless steel and aluminum construction fabrication projects of varying complexity from start to finish
•  Ability to develop estimates from CAD and Inventor drawings, blueprints, shop drawings and other construction documents used in the design of steel and fabrication applications
•  Ability to communicate professionally using both verbal and written communications to Project Management, Purchasing, Drafting and Design, along with all of the other units included as part of the Project Team

• Must be proficient in reading and understanding industrial and commercial contract drawings

• Possess advanced knowledge of personal computers and software packages including specific knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Bluebeam PDF Editor
• Possess knowledge of Structural Material Manager software (training will be provided)
• Proficient in organizational skills with high level of attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to excel under pressure and meet budget and project deadlines
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) and to represent Beitzel Corporation in a professional, competent and courteous manner
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be able to effectively adapt to ever-changing and ever-emerging customer needs
• Must be a team player and able to work hours to meet objective milestone goals
• Ability to effectively present information and coordinate with cross-functional teams to accomplish common goals
