    Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Mechanic Shop Supply Chain and Operations Coordinator.  The Mechanic Shop Supply Chain and Operations Coordinator will assist the daily activities of equipment repair and maintenance operations to ensure proper performance and safety of all company vehicles. This involves procurement of supply, inventory control,for the company fleet. Being responsible for the oversight of the Supply Chain, he/she will manage the procurement, cost control/reduction, and inventory control. He/She must be available after hours and weekends as needed. This position is also responsible for safety at this location. This position, as with any position at Beitzel Corporation is also responsible for understanding and enforcing the safety requirements of any company work location.

    Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Customer Service Manager, the Mechanic Shop Supply Chain and Operations Coordinator will work from the Beitzel Corporation's Mechanic Shop location in Bittinger, MD.

    Responsibilities

    Safety:

     

    In all actions, employee will promote a culture of safety and empower other employees to express any safety related concerns, including stop work authority for every employee.

     

    Procurement:

    This position is responsible for the purchasing of tools, supplies, etc. as directed by the Fleet Manager to include:

    • Purchasing parts, inventory and tools as needed for repairs and maintenance.
    • Troubleshoot procurement problems with vendors regarding timeliness, quantity, and accuracy of orders.
    • Periodically shop suppliers to maintain best price and quality for parts and inventory.
    • Arrange and coordinate purchasing with repair and maintenance schedules.
    • Organize and maintain equipment service and parts manual.
    • Creating procurement, cost and inventory related reports for management.

     

    Cost Control and Reduction:

    • Provide estimates and recommendations to Fleet Manager of opportunities to reduce fleet parts and inventory costs.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with supplier network.
    • Maintain effective waste control, including returning unused parts.

    Fleet Maintenance:

    • Monitor general condition of all equipment
    • Assist routine and preventative maintenance schedules in coordinate with the Fleet Manager
    • Manage repair shop priorities in coordination with the Fleet Manager
    • Tracking of work performed and records keeping
    • Inventory control
    • Participates in company DOT inspection program and provide required documents to DOT compliance monitor

    Inventory Control:

    • Receive shipments, confirm accuracy of order and deliver to appropriate technician or supervisor for use.
    • Ship parts to field or branch locations as needed, return unused or not-needed parts of inventory for refund or credit.
    • Maintain accurate shipping, receiving and vendor records to take advantage of credits, refunds and special discounted rates.
    • Organize, stock, track, and count inventory regularly.
    • Based on fleet data, maintain parts inventory levels as not to delay the repair or maintenance of vehicles and heavy equipment.
    • Developing and implementing inventory control procedures and identifying improvement opportunities.
    • Managing physical inventory and cycle counts, maintaining all related written instructions, and reconciling and reporting on variances.
    • Conducting daily inventory analysis to solve inventory problems.

    Inventory Management & Control

    • Manage stock levels of parts inventory to ensure adequate supply for Corporate fleet maintenance needs.
    • Source and purchase both stock parts and special-order parts for repair & maintenance work orders.
    • Process parts out of inventory against equipment work orders as repair & maintenance tasks are performed.
    • Execute physical inventory counts and other inventory control protocols as needed.
    • Support work order processing and related recordkeeping systems for the Corporate mechanic shop.
    • Keep the parts inventories well organized and labeled to facilitate picking for work orders.
    • Maintain internal records for parts inventory including material numbers, vendor pricing, on hand quantities, etc.
    • Establish and maintain Standard Maintenance routines for vehicle fleet and support the scheduling of preventive maintenance.

    Qualifications

    • Knowledge of automotive and heavy equipment mechanics and maintenance.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of both mechanical and inventory experience.
    • Previous repair shop experience preferred.
    • Practical knowledge of office procedures and customer relations.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of automotive and heavy equipment and maintenance programs.
    • Working knowledge of personal computers and software packages including specific knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    • Must have excellent and proven, internet-based parts ordering skill and experience.
    • Must exhibit a high level of professionalism, integrity, and be willing and able to maintain a positive and professional demeanor in representing Beitzel Corporation, without exception.
    • Excellent customer relations, presentation, and oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations. Ability to meet deadlines.
    • Possesses an Operator 10 Certification.

    1. Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and turn tools; reach and extend hands and arms; crawl, kneel and lay
    2. The employee will frequent lift, handle and maneuver engine parts and components and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds unassisted
    3. Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
    4. Required safety equipment: Steel toe and/or metatarsal shoes, protective eye wear, hard hat, hearing protection, protective goggles, masks, face shields, welding gloves, etc.

     

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    1. Must possess a valid state driver’s license prior to employment
    2. This position requires the completion of a thorough background check including driving, employment and education verification, SSN eVerify, employment references, and pre-employment drug screening.
