    Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for a full-time Fleet Maintenance Customer Service Manager.  The Fleet Maintenance Customer Service Manager will supervise the daily activities of equipment repair and maintenance operations to ensure proper performance and safety of all company vehicles and field equipment. This position will interact with the internal customers of the company to coordinate and facilitate the maintenance and repair of the company vehicles and equipment. This position will require a flexible schedule that will include extended work hours, along with some weekend and emergency call-out work as needed.  The successful candidate will possess customer service experience.      

    This position will report to the Fleet Manager and will work out of the Beitzel Mechanic Shop located in Bittinger, Maryland. Candidates must be flexible and willing to work weekends, and holidays. Areas of operations include, but are not limited to:  MD, VA, PA, WV, VA, OH and NJ.




    In all actions, employee will promote a culture of safety and empower other employees to express any safety related concerns, including stop work authority for every employee.


    Fleet Maintenance:

    • Monitor general condition of all equipment
    • Establish routine and preventative maintenance schedules in coordinate with the Fleet Manager
    • Manage repair shop priorities in coordination with the Fleet Manager
    • Assign all vehicles and manage loaner vehicles
    • Arrange contract repairs when work cannot be performed in shop
    • Manage repair shop priorities in coordination with the Fleet Manager
    • Tracking of work performed and records keeping
    • Inventory control
    • Manage company DOT inspection program and provide required documents to DOT compliance monitor


    Customer Service:

    • Field calls and requests for maintenance and/or repair of company vehicles and equipment
    • Communicate potential service options and possibilities to internal customers
    • Communicate status of repair orders to internal customers
    • Notify internal customers of changes or developments during the service/repair cycle


    • Order parts, shop supplies, tools, etc. needed to do the work
    • Organize and maintain equipment service and parts manual


    Cost Control and Reduction:

    • Provide estimates and recommendations to management of opportunities reduce fleet costs
    • Develop and maintain relationships with supplier network
    • Maintain waste control


    Supervision and Scheduling:

    • Delegating, supervising, scheduling and reviewing responsibilities of all maintenance shop mechanics
    • Scheduling repair and maintenance work orders by balancing customer needs with product and labor availability
    • Performing time card review and requests for time off maintenance shop mechanics
    • Conduct weekly training meetings and recommend technician training to the fleet manager
    • General management of the shop facility including building and equipment lot

    • Preferred candidates will possess advanced customer service skills with five (5) years of experience 
    • Previous supervisory experience preferred
    • Comprehensive knowledge of equipment and fleet vehicle maintenance is preferred
    • Practical knowledge of office procedures and customer relations
    • Working knowledge of personal computers and software packages including specific knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
    • Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations
    • Ability to meet deadlines
    • Strong organizational skills

    1. Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and turn tools; reach and extend hands and arms; crawl, kneel and lay
    2. The employee will frequent lift, handle and maneuver engine parts and components and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds unassisted
    3. Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
    4. Required safety equipment: Steel toe and/or metatarsal shoes, protective eye wear, hard hat, hearing protection, protective goggles, masks, face shields, welding gloves, etc.


    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    1. Must possess a valid state driver’s license prior to employment
    2. This position requires the completion of a thorough background check including driving, employment and education verification, SSN eVerify, employment references, and pre-employment drug screening.
