Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for a full-time Project Manager - Machining. The Project Manager - Machining will work out of the Fabrication & Machine Shop. This position will be responsible for machining related projects for Beitzel Corporation’s Fabrication and Machining Division.  Responsibilities will include coordination of machining project resources to complete projects within quoted timeframes and budgets as well as the quality and accuracy of the deliverables produced by the machining department. The role requires extensive coordination across a variety of teams, including but not limited to: machine shop production, project managers, drafting, foremen, billing, quality control, customers, and vendors.  The Project Manager - Machining will report to the Machine Shop Production Manager.

  • Interact with customers and provide viable solutions to solve their needs.
  • Provide design and layout models for visual confirmation to customers.
  • Help provide material specifications on projects.
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal parts.
  • Produce/review blueprints, drawings, or specifications for a job.
  • Shape steel, aluminum, and other materials.
  • Select tools and materials for the job.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.
  • Regulate the temperature of the workpiece.
  • Detect problems by listening for specific sounds.
  • Adjust cutting speed to compensate for harmonic vibrations.
  • Monitor the accuracy of cuts and work against blueprints and specifications.
  • Use manual and computer-controlled machinery.
  • Suggest and implement a plan of action for repair/rebuild work.
  • Participates in quoting jobs for customers
  • Provides customer service to customers
  • Coordinates and assists the flow of production for projects
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; requesting repairs.


  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or 3-5 years' experience in precision machining work and management
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor software
  • A working knowledge of metallurgy
  • Proficiency in shop math, reading blueprints, manual lathes, manual knee mills, grinders and setting up machines, CNC machining
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, cylinders and gear boxes, etc.
  • Possess general mechanical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with problem solving and providing solutions in all stages of a project
  • 5-10 years’ experience in machining shop work
  • Manual lathes and advanced machining processes
  • Machining education and or certifications 
  • Welding experience and or certifications

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment.
