Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for a full-time Cement Mason.  The Cement Mason will perform block laying and concrete pours in the construction and repair of industrial surfaces and structures. The Cement Mason must be able to follow blueprints, plans or drawings to accurately complete jobs. This work includes out of town travel and overnight stays. This position will work out of the Grantsville location. 

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to lay 12”, 8”, 6” split faced block and brick
  • Works with forms, rebar, block and concrete
  • Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth and align them
  • Calculates concrete yardage
  • Mixes cement using hoes, cement mixing equipment, and/or hand tools
  • Pours and finishes concrete
  • Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float
  • Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the process
  • Molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge
  • Fabricate concrete beams, columns, and panels
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, plans related to the job
  • Fabricates and repairs walls, surfaces, footers, structures
  • Lays out work using chalk lines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares and levels
  • Prepares surfaces prior to beginning work
  • Move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
  • Operates equipment such as forklift and man lift

Qualifications

  • Preferred candidates will possess a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of 1 year of experience and general knowledge of worksite safety.
  • 3-5 years experience of masonary work and will have worked in a variety of industrial settings
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing 
  • Must be dependable, trustworthy, possess a positive attitude, and be willing to work independently or in a team environment
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that may include extended work hours and occasional weekends  
  • Must possess excellent math skills including adding, subtracting, decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must be able to work independently, follow instructions, multi-task while maintaining a clean work area
  • Equipment Operation Experience is a plus
  • Welding certifications is a plus
  • Must possess a proven history of Safe Practices and Safety Awareness
  • Preferred candidate will possess millwright experience and knowledge

  • Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
  • Required safety equipment: Steel toe and/or metatarsal shoes, protective eye wear, hard hat, hearing protection, protective goggles, masks, face shields, gloves, etc.

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  1. Must possess a valid state driver’s license prior to employment
  2. This position requires the completion of a thorough background check including driving, employment and education verification, SSN eVerify, employment references, and pre-employment drug screening.
